Sandhurst Library book launch?

Libraries are so important to any community! Naturally, I have used my local library as a place to work in, and I wondered whether or not I could have it as a venue to launch my debut novel - as a local author, but also because the subject matter is one of great importance and relevance to community safety and wellbeing.

My idea was to provide a focus point on how domestic abuse affects any community, but particularly my local community.

Having broached the idea to the staff, a dialog was opened, and it looks like everyone is very positive about the idea!

A meeting with someone proved hopeful, and I came away with a clearer idea of what this event would entail; for example, given the nature of the subject matter (domestic abuse) it would be best to host it at Bracknell library, rather than Sandhurst, because that site has a separate room. The library can be accessed by all, and people can choose to attend, this event, without placing any restrictions on the whole site.

I was also advised to have a professional in attendance - someone who is officially qualified to speak and advise about domestic abuse, such as a counsellor, or charity worker, or support worker… It just so happens I know someone who is willing and able!

I can’t wait to get this ball rolling. Someone from the library needs to read the book first to verify it.
